It Is...?

I'm visiting my aunt in Nevada and she lives in a senior living complex.

When I took a walk, went to the coffee shop, or came back from the area grocery store, casino, or shopping center/mall, I always saw a gentleman, my aunt's neighbor, commuting by wheelchair around the community. My aunt told him that she wanted him to meet us when she first mentioned we were coming to town. I just admired him as he did what he wanted to do and went where he wanted to go - regardless of what others may have viewed as a challenge.  Whereever I was, he was there too. Never close enough to experience a mutual greeting.

We went to LA for three nights and four days and came back Monday night.

My aunt's neighbor passed over the weekend after a series of things following a freak accident that was not life threatening.

It can always be said that things work out as they do or are meant to be.  But with that philosophy, does the concept of "missed opportunity" exist?

I have pondered this almost every day since 2006.

Remembering Daddy

As I wait for the bathroom to clear in this beautiful hotel in St. Louis, I remember, relish, and am grateful that it was my father who taught me the beauty and the experience in taking cross country road trips.

It was my father, the only driver at the time in the household that showed me the redwood forests to the gulf stream waters several times.   I remember every vacation vividly.

I celebrate my father as my children and I take our own first cross country road trip.

Thank you, Daddy.

324 Men

In an unconfirmed report,  there is supposedly a 19-year-old woman who has infected 324 men with HIV with the goal of infecting 2,000 by the end of the year.

When in this day and age will people, men and women, cease having random, unprotected sex?  When will people's bodies stop running their minds?

Now, 324 married or single men can infect unknowingly, unintentionally, knowingly, or intentionally all with whom they have unprotected sex.

If everyone cared enough about their health, respected their body, held their body in high regard, stayed a virgin until marriage, never cheated on their spouse and never divorced, that would cause sexually transmitted diseases to immediately stop spreading. Eventually, those diseases would be wiped entirely off the planet.  - From the book "Life, Money, Credit, Men, and Sex...In That Order" (Coming June 2014)

What can happen in a moment of "having fun" can devastate a lifetime.  Lifetimes. On all sides.
